such great heights...

Another very cool set of photos I found on webdesignerdepot.com, of all places... these images are from the Landsat 7 Satellite (just go with it) and are each a combination of 8 "spectral bands" used to create one single composite image. Above my head, but still intriguing!

(From top to bottom: Delta Region, Netherlands / Southern Buenos Aires / Bolivian Deforestation / Akpatok Island, Quebec)

how intricate! i never would have the patience for something like this - i would totally start it and then quit halfway through. thankfully, there are people like mark andrew webber to take care of these things the rest of us.

Catching up on some of my favorite art blogs when I came across this paper cut artist, Katy Clove, from Durham. Her work is really original and refreshing - plus such delicate precision in her work, she's gotta have the hands of a surgeon.







This is such a great example of simple beauty, I can see this in my future baby nursery using animal shapes...not that I really think about that stuff...

behind the veil...

As I dig up inspiration for upcoming fall fashion editorials I'm working on, I came across this pearled headband reminiscent of old Hollywood from Jennifer Behr. Her current collection is full of feminine headbands created with materials like chains and spikes (and hefty pricetags). Seeing studs as a huge trend for fall, I mistook the demure pearls for something tougher (I blame styling it with a mesh Alexander Wang dress), but this has "DIY" written all over it.

At first glance, I thought these were some form of post-process photographs and was taken back to find out they were created solely with stencils. Created by artist Kenji Nakayama - for those of you in Boston, he has a few pieces on display at The Achilles Project in Fort Point.

Read on the site about how the images are produced - amazing! Apparently it can take up to 150 attempts to get one single image right. Kudos!!

is definitely another man's treasure, when you're talking about the installation below.







Very cool installation in Madrid - 80 recycled plastic bags, lit up and inflated by the wind - talk about recycling! It was created by Luzinterruptus (Madrid-based art group) and titled "A Cloud of Bags Visit the Pardo" - which lit up the lawn in front of the Prado Museum in early March.
