graphing...

I forgot how nice it can be to sketch on graph paper and these drawings by San Francisco-based Rachel Robertson have done a great job reminding me... off to the art store I go! Wait, where do you get graph paper??

Check out her flickr here and her etsy here.

cut it out...

Catching up on some of my favorite art blogs when I came across this paper cut artist, Katy Clove, from Durham. Her work is really original and refreshing - plus such delicate precision in her work, she's gotta have the hands of a surgeon.

This is such a great example of simple beauty, I can see this in my future baby nursery using animal shapes...not that I really think about that stuff...

light + love,

positive thinking...

It seems as if everything in my life is flipping upside down and spinning all around lately...
this is all you can do, I guess.

hey, no cutting...

The always-perfectly-accessorized, Alyssa forwarded these (fitting) editorials by amazing paper artist, Jo Lynn Alcorn... oh to have the patience to create such intricate work!

(I highly recommend clicking on each to see the full size - the detail is incredible!)

Alyssa also gets a bonus gold star since there are elephants in both ;)

oh hello...

I'm back (kinda) after a seriously intense week! So many things are happening it's hard to keep track of, let alone find time to squeeze in a post or two... On the plus, I've been pumping out sites like a mad-woman and getting my buns organized.

That said, the most important question of the day is what kind of coffee to indulge in...

luckily Camilla answered for me with a little bit of steamed heaven. gracias.

fill me up...

OK OK So I get that I'm on a bit of a cheerful-streak and I apologize to all the downers in the audience but hey, what do you expect? I just came back from a great vacation, only to be greeted by my adorable puppy (and boyfriend) and yes, the sun is FINALLY shining in this beautiful city! So who cares about all the deadlines and stress, right? right.

That said, I've fallen for these adorable prints by Fréya. Especially these three as, well, two are elephants and one includes our lovely namesake. Oh and what they say is pretty cute too ;)

little doodles...

I just stumbled across the adorable blog, little doodles, by kate, a london-based illustrator. I'm so impressed with how she handles fabrics with watercolor! such talent...

inked...

I've long had the itch to get another tattoo - especially seeing as how the one I already have is in an indiscreet place and was born as a form of rebellion on a rather lame trip to Hawaii when I was 18... Alas, the one I dream of still hasn't happened since a) it will cost a lot, b) it will take forever and c) I can't take the time to make a 2-minute call to book an appointment (aka I'm lazy)...

ANYWAYS, I came across Kristina Collantes's Portfolio on Behance last night and after purusing her lovely patterns and impressive posters, I saw her dope (yes I just said dope) tattoo gallery and, well, I had to share.... drool.

What's the dream tattoo I've been dilly-dallying on you ask? Well, once I finally get it, I'll post it on here and you can see for yourself ;)

you've got mail...

interesting "junk-mail wallpaper" exhibit/project titled SPAMGHETTO – kinda catchy.

you can view the photos on flickr or visit this site

from the flickr page: "... instead of sweeping spam under the carpet, we decided save some junk-mail in order to turn it into a wallpaper for your house before it's too late: someday a brilliant scientist will find the definitive solution to eradicate from the web the bittersweet pleasure of spam."

enjoy the pictures below!

catalina estrada...

I'm not usually a print-girl when it comes to clothing but I just came across Catalina Estrada's illustrations for Anunciao's Summer '08 line and they kinda took my breath away.

Maybe it's because the print is so much smaller on the fabic...? Maybe it's all the yoga that has me loving the chakra-esque elements...? Who knows. anyways, these are gorgeous.

Definitely check out her site, www.catalinaestrada.com, her portfolio is quite impressive to say the least!
