a slight obsession...

A few Thanksgivings ago, while sitting around the table, I took notice of my aunt Harriet's cloth napkins and, well, fell in love...

One side was a deep red with a white do
tted scallop print and the other, a dark navy with a geometric, star-like pattern. Figuring they were from one of her many trips to Japan, I was thrilled to hear they were a gift from my cousin who picked them up at her mom/my aunt Elizabeth's spa. (hope I didn't lose you there)

So this past January, while on an uber-relaxing-spa-bda
y-vaca in Santa Fe, I made sure to pick up a set for myself at Ten Thousand Wave's boutique before I left.

Who knew that this one little pattern could have lead to an all out obsession with scallop
print??

they no longer had red/navy so I got purple/green.. (which I'm more than ok with)

I've scoured the internet, looking for a similar dotted scallop/wave pattern with no luck.
Dotted or not, I love all these:

marine swallows fabric

red wave necklace by tatsuko

scallop earrings by avery winslow

scallop silkscreens..

adorable peacock notecards by anemone letterpress

cute combo

an old Fresh soap box on my shelf :)

For the longest time, I had plans for the re-d
esign of my site to heavily incorporate this dotted scallop pattern but alas, when on the screen, it makes me a little dizzy. I'm still trying to figure out a way around it, maybe fuzzing/blurring it out a little? Then again, the crispness and simplicity is what ultimately drew me in...

today i learned....

how to embed images into gmail...

I know it sounds silly and simple but so help me god, I've never been able to it. Not a big deal but it
has prevented me from doing email blast for some clients.

Anyways, for all those out there who don't already know:
1. find the image online (or upload it to a site so it can live online)
2. select the image by dragging the mouse over it (it will turn grey when selected)
3. simply copy the image (command+c)
4. go to your gmail message and turn on "rich formatting"
5. paste the image into the body of the email (command+v)
6. blast away

It's so easy that I honestly feel slightly stupid for even posting this. Whatever. If I
didn't know how, no doubt there are other just-as-clueless folk out there.

space kitten...

Is there a term for being completely overwhelemed?
besides submerged, engulfed, buried, deluged, flooded, inundated?

Anyways, if there is, I'm it. (wait, is that english?)

Actually, I have nothing to do today. I'm alone in the design room with barely a project in sight and I feel overwhelmed. Maybe it's because I know I have a lot of work waiting for me at home...?

Mer. So what I'm getting at is that I wore flip flops today.

In the pouring rain.
... like, monsoon rains.

A little spacey, yes. But no joke - I've been on the edge of my seat with a quickened heart rate all day. Not over the flips-flops (geezus) but over god-knows-what. Even my rescue remedy drops aren't helping. Maybe it's buyer's remorse for purchasing TWO bags on the marc jacobs employee sale website today?
no - they were a good deal so I'm ok with it.

OK, well I'm not really sure where I'm going with this so... Quick - check out these slippers!

This company in the UK (amorde madre) sells them for
32€

I'm not completely sure who would benefit from them (or could afford them with the current dollar-status) but I couldn't resist sharing the discovery.. too hilar.

Diversion aside, I know I'm avoiding whatever it is that has me so incredibly antsy today. At least it's
almost closing time and the sun is trying to peek out. I might even be able to walk home with dry feet!

adios for now. xoxo
