if only...

...I had an extra $1500 to carelessly throw around.

This gold and lapis Me&Ro ring is too adorable and would be a great replacement for my favorite turquoise ring that's gone missing (sad sad story - it was from my mom and I wore is every day for 5 years and now it's disappeared). Me&Ro are having a sale on Hautelook today and while it's a great savings (originally priced at $2820), I just have to pass... sigh.

Christmas present? Anyone? (crickets.)

good day sunshine...

good morning on this beautiful, sunny saturday! (finally) i'll keep this short & sweet - just wanted to mark this bright occasion (as rare as it's been lately in boston) with some fresh, pretty flowers. enjoy!

behind the veil...

As I dig up inspiration for upcoming fall fashion editorials I'm working on, I came across this pearled headband reminiscent of old Hollywood from Jennifer Behr. Her current collection is full of feminine headbands created with materials like chains and spikes (and hefty pricetags). Seeing studs as a huge trend for fall, I mistook the demure pearls for something tougher (I blame styling it with a mesh Alexander Wang dress), but this has "DIY" written all over it.
What do you think?

trick photography...

At first glance, I thought these were some form of post-process photographs and was taken back to find out they were created solely with stencils. Created by artist Kenji Nakayama - for those of you in Boston, he has a few pieces on display at The Achilles Project in Fort Point.

i love the movement of these underwater photos from Mark Mawson....totally makes me think of deep-sea creatures. make sure to check out the rest of his site, too - amazing photography.

maybe i am drawn to them because they are dark...like our lovely weather in boston this week...

it's electric...

Hi all!

Glad to be guest-blogging while Jess is in Paradise (and quite jealous!)

Came across these absolutely stunning images (photograms to be exact) by Robert Bueltman
on Today and Tomorrow

Read on the site about how the images are produced - amazing! Apparently it can take up to 150 attempts to get one single image right. Kudos!!

I have been loving AllModern lately, and this is the first thing I saw when I went on their page today! Its a sign! While Jess is away i'll continue to keep my eyes open for signs... of the Carrot Queen.

adios...

Since Boston doesn't seem to know what summer means anymore (we had only FOUR sunny days in June!!), the lovely miss Victoria and I are escaping to paradise... Yes, back to Costa Rica we go! 11 bliss-filled days of waking up early to surf and relaxing with yoga in the afternoon - I can't wait :)

Like last time, there will be some fab young ladies taking the reigns and guest blogging while I'm away. Some you may remember and some are new to the game so please welcome them with lots of friendly comments and love.

I'll try to post a few from the beach!

xoxo

singh me a song...

These gorgeous paintings are by the very talented Sara Singh. As a person who's dappled in watercolors before, I am so impressed by her easy, confident use of the medium.. Beautiful.

fragile...

These hand-made pieces by Netherlands-based Barbara Munsel look so fragile and delicate that they make my heart swoon. Not sure where you can purchase her pieces in the US but you can check out her blog here.

the animal print shop...

How great are these photos by LA-based Sharon Montrose?!?
I couldn't decide which was my favorite so.. I posted a bunch :)

Great site design too. I like the simplicity of the navigation.

light lane...

Such a great idea!

"LightLane
was developed by designers at Altitude to encourage commuting by bike. The device attaches to the back of your bike frame and an illuminated bike lane appears instantly. Although the LightLane isn’t available to the public just yet, this product will give bikers the space they need on those all too many roads without bike lanes."

ps - love that all the promo pics are shot in Boston :)

test drive...

So after months of refusing to give in, I finally did and test drove some harem pants today. While I'll admit, they are kinda cute, the pleats left me feeling a little pear-ish. Dave hates them. I'm on the fence. Although, my gawwd are they comfy!

thoughts?

oh and don't fret about me just yet - I dropped all of $6 on them at an EXPRESS sale :)
