Some of you may already know that I'm in the process of re-designing my portfolio site... what you may not know is that this little blog here is getting a hefty makeover too!! (yay!)

So, in lieu of said makeover, I'm putting this baby on hold for a few. Don't hate me - you'll (hopefully) be pleasantly surprised when we're done.

To be honest, I've never been one to dive head-first into Halloween. But this year, my friend Hil suggested I be a peacock and the idea of mixing my favorite blues and playing with crazy makeup got my mind going and BAM... I became a peacock! (with a bunch of help from the talented miss Jeannie Vincent that is!)

Last Friday, one of my fav bloggers, Erin, of Elements of Style, came by for a visit with her adorable pup, Oliver. Check out her lovely recap post here. To be honest, I am blushing ear to ear being featured on her blog today, it's like when your favorite band gives you a shout-out mid-set :)

Just taking an email/blog break from painting the bedroom a nice creamy white (half of it has been dark green and half primer since march). Getting this done is a major accomplishment and brings me one step closer to the all-white-bedroom of my dreams.

Had a yummy Italian dinner with some good friends last night AND scored some Lady GaGa tickets for December today!!!

So the other night, after having my typical panic attack over project deadlines, the stresses of running my own business, my not going to yoga in forever slash feeling out of shape, and constant worry over my inability to stop shopping and save money, I confessed to Dave that I was also feeling a serious lack of love on my blog. "I just don't get it, no one comments anymore.. have my readers stopping loving me??!?" (in my winiest, little girl voice). Of course Dave shrugged his shoulders, poured me more wine and did his best job consoling me. But the fear was still there - had you guys left me?

Well, the silly girl I am, had um somehow turned off all my comment notifications a few weeks/months ago... ((insert embarrassed, blushing face here)). Yeah, I just went into my settings and realized that, alas, I had selected this panic-inducing scenario.

So thank you for the love - I finally did the most basic thing and scrolled through my blog and realized there were comments that had gone unnoticed for weeks now!! Sigh, I am crazy.

I FINALLY took some pictures of our new Fort Point studio yesterday!

Jen and I moved in back in September and between both our schedules, the process of setting up is taking a while. So it's a work in progress - we still need a rug, curtains and desperately have to hang up all of Jen's gorgeous prints... But enjoy!

a cozy little corner for reading, sipping tea, greeting clients...
I got the couch, desk, coffee table and chair (cropped out on the left) on Craigslist - all via Crocodile Tears!! I recovered the chair with Amy Butler fabric. The vintage desk lamp was my grandfather's.

all the ceiling lights, shelves, storage boxes and blanket are from IKEA...

This space heater was my grandfather's...
Amy Butler fabric on the windows (for now) and striped IKEA fabric hides shelves for storage..

Intern station on the left, my station on the right... desks are Melltorp dining tables from IKEA.
Both chairs were bought from Craigslist (white is West Elm, black is Knoll), the cart is a vintage folding medial cart (circa 1970), all found on Crocodile Tears!

I found this old sewing table in the trash!! Just put our coffee machine on it today (not pictured)...

A few weeks ago, I was interview by Galen Moore of MHT regarding some of my craigslist purchases via Crocodile Tears. Here's a bit of what went down (pics of the studio can be seen here):

"On the other side of the Craigslist equation, graphic designer Jessica Sutton has furnished most of her Fort Point studio with mid-century modern furniture bought on Craigslist. It’s a habit she picked up last year, when she was starting out in a smaller office in the Back Bay. “I was just starting out and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money,” she said. Now, bargain hunting has become her M.O.

Craigslist doesn’t reveal the number of posts it sees daily, but the flood of offers could easily overwhelm any shopper. Sutton said she doesn’t have time to dig through the site itself — and she doesn’t have to. Boston blogger Keyse Angelo puts up her favorite picks on a Google-hosted blog she calls Crocodile Tears."

While they aren't all-white bedrooms, the simplicity is still there...

I love the mixture of the pure white wall (and amazing white art relief) with the bold but subdued purple. The owl set and simple white light are adorable too!

I just stumbled across Boston-based bag designer, Laura Collins on Supermarket. Her line is called Pansy Maiden (named after her grandmother) and so far, I'm completely obsessed with her where there are trees weekender bag! How great would it be for toting my laptop, sketchbook, planner AND dog food to the new studio (more on that news later)?

The biggest bonus - Laura uses all natural, ecologically dyed, machine washable fabrics for the exterior, lining, and interfacing of her bags! 100% vegan, 100% natural, 100% sustainable!

Catching up on some of my favorite art blogs when I came across this paper cut artist, Katy Clove, from Durham. Her work is really original and refreshing - plus such delicate precision in her work, she's gotta have the hands of a surgeon.

This is such a great example of simple beauty, I can see this in my future baby nursery using animal shapes...not that I really think about that stuff...

I'm in love with this new font, Nelly Script Flourish, by tart workshop... In fact, I love it so much I'm thinking of using it for my next venture's logo (and no I can't tell you what that is... it's a surprise for now)!

We've long been debating how to fill the massive brick expanse behind our sofa and without the budget to invest in a large art piece, Dave and I were thrilled when we spotted this long Indonesian tapestry at the SOWA open markets last Sunday for a mere $15!

Our solution for easy art on the cheap:
- tapestry $15
- 90" piece of wood from Home Depot $4
- staple gun (already owned)
- brass nail heads ($2)
- fishing line

Yeah yeah I didn't do the most perfect job with it but hey, no more empty wall! Now to find a table runner that will match...

I first spotted one of Chan Luu's wrap bracelets on one of my favorite yoga teachers, Joy, during my most recent trip to Costa Rica. She was passing me a plate at dinner and I couldn't contain myself from letting out a very audible gasp "ohmygodiloveyourbraceletwherisitfrom?!!"... She immediately unwrapped the luscious leather and silver piece from her wrist and handed it to me. It was lust at first sight.

What I wasn't expecting was the weight of it - heavy enough to make it feel uber-luxe - a far cry from your typical light h&m fare. Another bonus is that the 10-wrap version Joy was sporting could be worn as a necklace or belt.

I'm obssessed (clearly as I never usually write more than a sentence in my posts!) and am putting in a formal request to my family/dave/friends for the gray leather/gold vermeil combo for christmas this year... someone... please... sigh.
